New Education Policy 2020 - A Landmark in India's History of Education

New Education Policy 2020

The New Education Policy 2020, will surely be a landmark in India's history of education. This education policy has been approved by the government of India after wide ranging consultation. This policy will definitely play a great role in nation's future growth. It seems very far-sighted. It fairly balances the ingrainedness and pride in India as well as acceptance of the best ideas and practices in the world of learning from across the world.
It seems that its one of high-rise goals is to bring two crore out-of-school children into school system and mainly to reduces dropouts. NEP 2020 cover all crucial aspects such as reduction in the burdensome syllabus, focus on vocational education and environmental education. According to this Education Policy students will have the opportunity to choose the subjects they wish to learn and be much more empowered.
The policy gives a boost to wholistic or comprehensive education by envisioning the convergence of science and arts stream. The focus on ethics and human and constitutional value will go for a long way in the creation of an enlightened citizenship essential for deepening out democratic roots. New Education Policy also expands the scope of foundation education, by increasing the school going years from 3-18 years instead of the prevalent 6-14 years. This enhance a more comprehensive development of children in the formative age group of 3-6 years.
A much discussed provision in the NEP emphasize that the medium of instruction untill at at least 5th grade (preferably 8th grade) will be in the regional language that is recognised as being native to India. This is a welcome initiative, as mother tongue plays a highly critical  role in the overall development of the child. Mother tongue, which a child hears right from the moment he or she born, provides personal identity, connects with culture and is crucial for cognitive development. I'm glad that the policy places great emphasis on classical language of India.
Instead of the stress laid on regional language, the policy states clearly and indisputably that there would no imposition-opposition to any language.
New Education Policy aims to increase public investment in education from 4.3% to 6% of GDP.
